10 Things To Do in the Greater Danbury Area Memorial Day Weekend
We've got 10 things to do during Memorial Day weekend in the Greater Danbury area.
Whatever you end up doing this weekend, just remember what Memorial Day is all about. So please take a little time during the weekend to remember those who have given their life serving this country!

Danbury Memorial Day Parade
Danbury's 2015 Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 25 at 9:30 am. The parade route goes from Kennedy Park to Rogers Park. After the parade, parachutists will float over the baseball field. A ceremonial service will then be held at the Rose Memorial Garden to honor veterans who have passed away.

This will kick-off on Memorial Day weekend and it runs until June 7. Tickets are 4 for $5, 22 for $20, or unlimited rides wristbands for $25. The hours for Memorial Day weekend are:
- Friday (May 22) 5pm-10pm
- Saturday (May 23) 12pm-10pm
- Sunday (May 24) 12pm – 10pm
- Monday (May 25) 12pm-11pm

Salute to Summer - Mystic Seaport, Mystic
At this event you will be able to take part in vintage lawn games, making ice cream the old-fashioned way, playing a game of 1876 baseball, a tug-of-war, and relay race. You can also board the historic vessels, explore exhibits, and take a horse-and-carriage ride.

This is an annual event, put on by the Newtown Lions Club, held in Sandy Hook Village. This year it will take place on May 23 from 10 to 2:30.
Duck race tickets are $5. The number on the ticket you buy is on one of the ducks that will be dropped from the bridge into the Pootatuck River at 2:30 and the first 20 ducks to cross the finish line are the winners. The 1st prize winner will get $2000 and there are 20 prizes in total worth over $4,400.For more information, click here.

Credit: Getty Images 5“Flutter Zone” Walk-Through Butterfly Exhibit – Maritime Aquarium, Norwalk
This new exhibit will open Memorial Day weekend and runs until September 7. In this exhibit you will see dozens of exotic tropical butterflies from Asia, Africa, and South America.
The exhibit will also feature a section where guests can see the life cycle of butterflies with chrysalises, which will help keep the exhibit stocked with butterflies over the summer.
The IMAX theater in the aquarium will also be showing "Flight of the Butterflies." For more information, click here.

Robin Hood Springtime Renaissance Festival in New Haven
This event will take place Saturday May, 23 from 11am-7pm at the North Haven Fairgrounds (300 Washington Ave, New Haven).
See fun stage-and-street shows and enjoy shopping, food, games, and more during your journey back in time. For more information, click here.

Dionysos Greek Festival - New Britain
Admission is free and all the food is homemade! At this festival they will have homemade pastitsio, moussaka, spanakopita, tiropita, gyros, souvlaki, dolmades, loukoumades, baklava, kataifi, and lots more. Hours:
- Friday 11am-midnight
- Saturday 11am-1am
- Sunday 12pm-10pm
They will also have live Greek music and Greek Youth dancers will perform each evening. For more info, click here

25th Annual Open Arts and Crafts Show - Wilton
You can see this outdoor display of artwork, photography, sculpture, woodworking, jewelry, ceramics, furniture, needlework, and other hand-crafted items on Saturday, May 23.
This event will take place on the Wilton Town Green from 10 am - 4 pm. For more information, click here.

We have so many great lakes around here. So find someone with a boat and hit the water!
If you are on spending the day on Candlewood Lake you can stop by Down the Hatch. And if you are boating on Zoar Lake, you can make a stop at Lake Zoar Drive-In.
