The Department of Transportation (DOT) will widen the area along Route 37, North Street/Padanaram Road, that is often backed-up with traffic and they will also be reconstructing the ramps at exits 5 and 6, according to the Danbury News Times.

The project, starting this week, is meant to help improve traffic flow and safety in the busy area of Danbury. It is expected to be completed in summer 2017 and will cost $15 million.

During the construction, drivers can expect delays both during the day and overnight. So, leave yourself some extra time if you are traveling in the area.

From the Danbury News Times, this is when you can expect delays on 84:

Monday through Friday

  • 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the eastbound exit 5 off-ramp
  • 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the westbound exit 6 off-ramp
  • 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the westbound exit 5 off-ramp and eastbound exit 6 on-ramp.
