It's like we're living in the Wild, Wild, West. Stop it! Really, that's all I can say.

I know that in today's world, nothing should shock me, but stories about people just randomly discharging guns still shocks the hell out of me.

According to fox61.com, an 81-year-old man in Connecticut is having charges leveled against him as he's accused of firing a gun multiple times around Branford.

It turns out that he may have been at it for awhile. The story reports that over the past year and a half, police in Branford have gotten quite a lot of complaints from residents and business owners who say they've been hearing gunshots. The report at fox61.com and Brandford police say that Ol' Itchy finger was at it again the other day. This time, people at a restaurant said they heard shots being fired nearby at a local construction site.

Police say that when they showed up, 81-year-old Howard Titus admitted he was shooting at a dirt mound. Sir, if you are looking for target practice, there are shooting ranges for that. By the way, Titus was found to have two .22 caliber rifles and a .45 caliber handgun.

Thankfully, nobody was hurt, but Titus is charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm, reckless endangerment, trespassing and breach of peace. I guess we can shrug our shoulders and say that's that, but my head tells me Howard needs some help, and a better way to channel whatever is driving him to be shooting guns off around his town.
