This time of year, it's fun to make it as festive as you can, especially for the kids. Making their lists, helping to decorate, and singing songs are ways that the kids love getting in spirit of the season, but we added a little extra magic to the season this year.

After Christmas last year, when everything was a really good sale price, I picked up a North Pole Communicator from Hallmark. So this is the first year we are using it. It's the biggest hit so far this year. Every morning my daughter loves to "dial in" to see who she is going to hear from the North Pole. This morning it was Santa and she was beside herself with excitement.

It's really cute and has quickly become a favorite holiday activity. Each day there are different questions for the kids to answer and they get a response from the elf or from Santa. There is a little button (below the microphone) that lights up blue when the elves or Santa are talking and starts flashing when the kids are asked a question. The kids like to take turns pressing the button when it's flashing.

I don't know if Hallmark is selling them again this year, but you can get the one I have from last year on Amazon. At the time of writing this, the cost is $22.75.
