Doug Oitvinoff has been collecting all sorts of stuff for decades, from sports memorabilia to metal signs. He has so much stuff, he figured opening up a thrift store was an excellent idea, according to the News-Times.

Oitvinoff told the News-Times, "I used to pick up things from all over the place, from estate auctions, tag sales, and other thrift stores. If I came across something I liked, I bought it."

When he lost his job last year, he raided his attic, garage, and a bunch of closets and decided to open up his own thrift shop called, "Up A Knotch," located in Stony Hill, Bethel. The shop also takes items on consignment, which has become extremely popular.

The store features a variety of collectibles including die cast cars, classic movie posters, classic Hess toy trucks, racing memorabilia, along with several old signs.

Oitvinoff raises the bar as it pertains to what you can find at his store, telling the News-Times, "There is so much stuff here I haven't seen anywhere else. A lot of stores just have recycled housewares, but at 'Up A Knotch,' you might just find a vintage treasure."

I'm not a browsing shopper, but I am when it comes to this type of unique shop. It's worth the trip to 71 Stony Hill Rd. in Bethel where they're open Monday-Saturday from 11am to 5pm and closed on Sunday. You can visit their website at: upaknotch.com.
