The former chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court and GOP candidate for the U.S. Senate claims that "not following God's laws" caused the Sandy Hook massacre.

His name is Roy Moore and he is the twice fired Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court and the current GOP nominee for the United States Senate in Alabama. According to CNN, this is what Roy Moore said at an August 24 event defending religious liberties:

You wonder why we're having problems, Newtown, Connecticut?  All across our country, with killings, stealing, committing adultery? Because we've forgotten the law of God.

This is the man who Trump endorsed. This is the man who has strong anti-gay beliefs, anti-Muslim views, and was the leading voice in the anti-Obama birther movement. Here's a quote from the Newtown Action Alliance reacting to Roy Moore's thoughts about why the Sandy Hook shootings took place:

No, Roy Moore, the Sandy Hook shootings had nothing to do with God. It occurred because the Republican members of Congress - who are in the pockets of the NRA - refuse to pass sensible gun laws and the mother of a mentally ill gunman decided to give him unfettered access to assault weapons and high capacity magazines instead of seeking help for his mental illness.

Earlier today, I heard this speech from Lt. General, Jay Silverio, superintendent of the U.S. Air Force Academy talking to 4,000 cadets. In my humble opinion, this is the kind of man our nation needs to lead this great country. It's all about respect for others no matter what their skin color, ethnicity, religion, or beliefs:
