One year after the tragic disaster at the Boston Marathon, we finally have good news to share about this annual event!

For the frist time since 1983, Meb Keflezighi became the first American to win the men's race! Meb Keflezighi crossed the finish line with a time of 2:08:37, which was eleven seconds ahead of second place finisher, Kenya's Wilson Chebet.

The last time an American won the Boston Marathon was Greg Meyer, who took the gold medal in 1983.

Meb Keflezighi is a 3-time Olympian who won the 2009 New York City Marathon and a silver medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens as well!

More than 35,000 runners signed up this year for the Boston Marathon and with this win, it's such a great way to take a complete about face from last year's tragic occurance!
