Another Heat Wave Brings Air Quality Alerts

We had a heat wave a few weeks ago, and then got a bit of a relief from the heat. However, it looks like we are facing another heat wave this week.

According to NBC Connecticut, temperatures could reach 93 degrees in some parts of Connecticut today. We're actually looking at three days in a row of 90-degree weather. With thunderstorms coming later this week.

Along with the hot weather come air quality problems, especially for those with respiratory problems. So the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) wants to remind people to be careful. Here is a list from the DEEP of reminders:

• Conserve electricity by setting your air conditions to 78 degrees.
• When using your washing machines, dryers, and dishwashers they as that you "Wait 'til 8"
• Carpool with others or use public transit, so you are driving less.
• If your company allows, telecommute.
• Don't idle your vehicle if you don't need to and refuel after dusk.
