Taking a train will soon get a bit easier. I'm all for that.

It's no secret that Metro North has been pretty embattled in the last few years. Numerous accidents and other issues have given them a bit of a bad rap. That said, the MTA has certainly worked hard to correct problems and to make our train riding experience better.

Metro North is introducing a new app that will allow commuters to pay their fares with their smartphones. You can get info and have your questions answered at MTAinfo.com

While it is already active for many customers outside of our area, it will become functional for stations along the New Haven Line and its Danbury, Waterbury and New Canaan branch lines, starting Monday, August 22.

Talk about easy! The app let's you purchase tickets, then save them in a ticket wallet feature in the app. When you get on the train, you simply activate the ticket from the wallet and show it to the conductor. The MTA eTix app is available for download now and Metro North will start using it on August 22.

Sounds easy-peazy to me.
