Mahopac Marine along with the Putnam County Sheriff's Department Marine Unit, and the Putnam County PBA is holding the inaugural Armed Forces Appreciation Festival July 11th on Lake Mahopac.

 

The community event will benefit the men and women who’ve served the U.S. both past and present.

According to the Putnam Daily Voice, special events will include a barbecue picnic with free food for all military personnel and veterans, contests and raffles. The NYS Parks and Recreation “Wear-It” boat will be giving out free ice cream to the first 200 children they find wearing their life jackets. And Mahopac Marina will help raise money for the Disabled American Veterans by selling food and drinks from their snack barge and donating !00% of all proceeds.

You can also view or participate in the boat raft-off starting in the Mahopac Marina Cove at noon. Sheriff Donald Smith will judge the boats and determine a grand prize winner. Boats will be decorated in a patriotic theme of red, white and blue and the winner will be awarded a Armed Forces Appreciation Day Trophy.
