An ex-boyfriend was arrested in connection with the murder of a missing 24-year-old Hudson Valley woman found tied up and dumped in a suitcase in Connecticut.

On Monday, Javier Enrique Da Silva Rojas, 24, of Queens was arrested in connection with the kidnapping and death of 24-year-old Valerie Reyes of New Rochelle.

“As alleged, Javier Da Silva is charged with committing a gruesome kidnapping that resulted in the death of a young woman," U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman said in a press release.

Reyes was reported missing in late January. Last week a woman's dead body was found inside a suitcase in Greenwich, C.T., police say. The woman was found inside the suitcase with her hands and feet bound.

“Together with our partners from the Greenwich and New Rochelle Police Departments, we were able to swiftly identify Javier Da Silva, an alleged murderer, and place him behind bars," FBI Assistant Director William F. Sweeney Jr. said.

Da Silva was arrested in Queens after he used the victim's ATM card, police say. Da Silva was Reyes' ex-boyfriend, according to the New York Post.

He was charged with kidnapping resulting in death, which carries a sentence of death or life in prison. Reyes will be laid to rest in hometown of New Rochelle on Wednesday.
