Spring has definitely arrived at our house. With spring come lots of outdoor projects and improvements to the house.

One of the big projects we want to work on this spring is a post on our back porch. Over the winter it started getting a hole in it and once it was warm enough to start the outdoor work we decided to take a look at the post.

I had seen a bird by the hole in the post, so I asked my husband to look in and make sure there weren’t any eggs in there. He looked in and there were no eggs, but there were six babies stretching their little necks, opening their beaks wide, and peeping. So, needless to say we didn’t take the post down yet.

We have been watching and trying to keep our distance, but it’s a little hard since the post is on the back porch by the stairs we walk down every day. It is fun to be working at the dining room table with the window open and seeing the mama and papa birds constantly flying in and out of the post to feed the little baby birds.

They are getting bigger and their peeping is turning into more of the sound that the older birds make. It’s going to be sad when the birds leave the nest, but it will be nice to replace the post. I told my husband that we should put the post with the hole in the yard in case they want to nest there next year.

Check out the video below. They’re so cute!
