According to a post by NBCConnecticut.com, the Bonefish Grill restaurants in Newington and South Windsor both closed down for good yesterday.

The Newington location was on the Berlin Turnpike, which is a very busy, high traffic area just South of Hartford. The South Windsor location was in Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk.

I frequent both areas, they're tough places for national chain restaurants to set up shop. I've seen countless restaurants come and go in both locations over the years, especially when it comes to seafood.

You can't serve up salad shrimp in Connecticut as shrimp cocktail when you could go to the Chowder Pot right up the road and get U/15's for the same price. We're in the motherland of seafood here in New England, we're spoiled.

I feel the same way when I order a lobster tail at a new place, and it's from a Caribbean spiny lobster. Ewwww! Give me a fresh one from Rockland, Maine, or nothing.

If you're jonesin' for great local places in the greater Hartford area that serve up the good stuff, go to The Chowder Pot, J's Crab Shack, Blue Lobster Seafood, or chase those yellow trucks you see on 84 all the time back to City Fish Market.
