Well since the eventual demise of the Danbury Whalers, we knew that some news would surface on a new local hockey team of some sort.

According to the Putnam Daily Voice, the Brewster Ice Area who is already home to many local school teams, will also host a new pro team. The Federal Hockey League is planning to bring the new "Stateline Whalers" to the arena for the 2015-16 season.

The Daily Voice reports that Putnam County executive Mary Ellen Odell says:

Having the Stateline Whalers here in Brewster is very exciting for Putnam County and the benefits of a minor league team in the area are priceless. It will boost economic development, create jobs, increase tourism in the county and heighten an already strong sense of community.

So that seems to be the deal for the former Whalers team in terms of playing location. What about the Danbury side of things?  Ideas have been tossed around but nothing has been officially announced.  Wouldn't it be cool to have TWO local hockey franchises around the area?
