The ongoing story about the popular NBC Nightly News anchor has turned a page as of this evening.

Fox News has confirmed that NBC News anchor and managing editor Brian Williams has been suspended for the next 6 months. NBC management says that this action towards Williams is "appropriate and proportionate action". According to Fox, Deborah Turness who is the President of NBC News stated this evening:

We have decided today to suspend Brian Williams as managing editor and anchor of NBC Nightly News for six months. The suspension will be without pay and is effective immediately. We let Brian know of our decision earlier today. Lester Holt will continue to substitute Anchor the NBC Nightly News.

As you probably remember, Brian apologized for his misstatement of his helicopter that was in fact not shot at during an assignment in Iraq in 2003.

I have to say, this isn't good for NBC News. It's been very well known that things are not going well for the well-known "Today Show," and now this.

Maybe the thought is that if Mr. Williams is given six months away from TV, it will help the network and his reputation in the long run. We will see what happens, but it's never easy to watch a media giant, someone you've looked up to, go down like this.
