Attention Brookfield residents, there will be a special meeting regarding the Federal Road improvement project scheduled for the end of October.

The announcement on the improvement project meeting was made earlier this week, and it will be held on October 29th at 7:00 PM in Room 133 at Brookfield Town Hall.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation staff will host the meeting to present the details of the Safety Improvement Project and the changes proposed and will also include the conceptual design for Lower Federal Road (Route 202).

According to a CT DOT press release at brookfieldct.gov, the project involves the widening of a section of Federal Road to provide sidewalks, left-turn lanes and protected left-turn signal at the location of Chic-Fil-A and Shop Rite Plaza. Plus the proposal also includes a new traffic signal with dedicated left-turn lanes and protected left-turn signal's at Beverly Drive and Hardscrabble Road.  The proposed work also includes realigning the southern portion of Old New Milford Road with the plaza at 317 Federal Road and the installation of a new traffic signal there as well.

The following four design drawings (see below) illustrate the scope of the plan and the major improvements proposed for this project:
