Can We Cool It Already On the Pumpkin Spiced Everything?
Pumpkin spiced this and pumpkin spiced that — enough already!
You know what food I love that tastes like pumpkin? A damned PUMPKIN! I admit, I do love pumpkin pie and occasionally, seasonal pumpkin ice cream, but it seems like every food group feels the need to jump on that "pumpkin spiced" bandwagon. Why do we need 876 different ways to enjoy the flavor of pumpkin?
Remember the good ole days when you went to the grocery store and there was one mustard flavor — French's Yellow Mustard? Bang! You took it off the shelf, done. Now it takes me 10 minutes to make a decision on what type of mustard to buy. You've got your dijon, spicy brown, honey mustard, whole grain mustard, hot mustard, English mustard, etc. but I digress.
I've just learned there is now a pumpkin spiced pizza available at Villa Italian Kitchen in Morristown, New Jersey for $4.60 a slice. Do we need pumpkin spiced pizza? Absolutely not. If you have a pumpkin fetish, here are some of the foods that offer a dab of pumpkin flavor:

You get the point. It's only a matter of time before you'll be able to order a pumpkin flavored strip steak (medium rare, please). How about steaming me up a pumpkin spiced lobster? How about pumpkin spiced marijuana or pumpkin flavored baby pacifiers? Suck on that! Why not pumpkin flavored eggs, milk, butter, corn, etc. Just add frickin' pumpkin flavor to everything why don't ya?!
Whatever happened to subtlety and "less is more"? As far as I'm concerned, you can stick your pumpkin spiced everything.
By the way, stop at Starbucks and pick me up Pumpkin Spiced Latte with skim milk, please.
