Update - I received a message from Shawn Gourley, who is the cofounder and executive director of Military with PTSD.  She said, "We do give the veteran firework signs away free to veterans, there is just a much longer list for a free sign and vets are wanting them now. So we have made them available when they make a donation. Thus far in the last 3 weeks we have given almost 800 signs to veterans for free."

Thank you Shawn! You work and generosity to veterans is appreciated!

I have some friends on my Facebook list that have spouses in the military and one of them posted a picture of something I think could be helpful for some veterans this 4th of July holiday.

The FB link she posted was for the page Military with PTSD and it was a picture of a veteran holding a sign that says a combat veteran lives at the house. It also asks people be courteous with fireworks.

The website for the signs is militarywithptsd.org. The signs are available for purchase (donation), until June 19 or until they sell out. There is also a list to sign up for a free sign.

I think this is great, because people love celebrating the 4th of July with fireworks (and there is nothing wrong with that), but it's good to remember that not everyone can handle the explosion sound that comes with the fireworks.

I can't imagine what combat veterans go through or how it feels to live with PTSD. So, if you notice one of these signs in your neighborhood, please be cautious and courteous with the fireworks.

Thank you to all of our veterans. Your service is very much appreciated and your sacrifice is not forgotten.
