We all know how much of a pain in the butt it can be to drive down to JFK to make those flights to international destinations. The Van Wyck expressway is a glorified parking lot most days.

Well it looks like for those of us in CT or in Putnam County not far from the border, another option will be available to "cross the pond."

According to The News Times, Bradley International Airport up in Windsor Locks will be soon offering direct flights on Aer Lingus from the Hartford area to Dublin Airport, returning European flight service to the airport. The last trans-Atlantic service to fly out of Bradley was Amsterdam, which was discontinued.

RTE reports that this daily non-stop service from Bradley to Dublin will start next September, along with new routes from New Jersey's Newark Liberty Aiport and Los Angeles to Dublin too. This is Aer Lingus' first expansion announcement after being purchased by British Airways parent IAG.

For Greater Danbury and Putnam County, it's a toss up as to which airport is closer when comparing JFK to Bradley, but if you aren't up for the big NYC airport traffic, this might be a nice alternative!
