We're all used to waiting in long lines when you have to go to the DMV, but yesterday after being closed for a week, Connecticut DMV offices reopened to longer lines then ever.

Now I'm sure you have all experienced the pain and anguish of having gone thru a software update where you work, but imagine what happens when you close the Connecticut DMV for a full week.

It's never a good thing when you have to actually head into a DMV location, but yesterday when they finally reopened it took the term "please wait" to a whole new level.

DMV is urging everyone who can handle their business online to use some of their new online features, according to FOX CT.

According to a DMV spokesperson, you will now be able to reprint registration certificates from home or any computer you have, you will be able to cancel your registration online, and you will also be able to order specialty plates such as vanity plates online.

The DMV can also reissue damaged plates through its website, and drivers can renew their registration through a new and improved online program, as well as check to see if they have any delinquent payments on parking fines or unpaid property taxes.

The DMV is also trying to make life easier for you by offering a 60-day extension until October 10 to renew all expiring driver’s licenses, ID cards and registrations.
