Incredibly sad news to report this evening, as a Connecticut State Trooper has passed away following an accident with a tractor-trailer on I-84.

According to a press release from the Connecticut State Police, Trooper First Class Kevin Miller died in the line of duty as a result of the accident that happened on the eastbound side of I-84 near exit 68 in Tolland, CT around 12:30 this afternoon.

Trooper Miller served the state of Connecticut for 19 years, almost to the date. He graduated from the State Police Academy on March 19, 1999 as a member of the 108th class.

The Connecticut State Police have issued the following statement on the matter:

We are grateful for his dedicated service to the Connecticut State Police and the residents of Connecticut, and our thoughts and prayer are with his family and friends during this difficult time.

The complete details of the accident have not been disclosed as of this writing, but the exits 67 and 68 sections of I-84 remain closed due to the investigation. Police ask drivers to seek alternate routes, to please be mindful of officers and emergency personnel if you're traveling in that area.
