Falling out of a window has to be every person's nightmare. Unthinkably so, when it happens to a child. Here's the story:

Falling from a height is one of my biggest fears. You know how people love to go to attractions like Sears Tower, now Willis Tower, in Chicago, or those glass-bottom Sky Deck observation attractions? Not this girl. I always feel like I'll be the person with her nose pressed to the window thousands of feet in the air when the glass lets go. So with that said, my heart goes out to this toddler's family. Thankfully, though, it all turned out okay.

In a story reported by stamfordadvocate.com, a toddler from Stamford is lucky to be alive after falling out of a second story window the other day. According to the story, police got a call about a young girl falling out of the window at the Fairfield Apartments.

The Advocate reports that according to Sgt. Brian Butler, the 3-year-old girl was playing in the apartment, opened a window, and fell next to the parking lot. Even though the apartment was on the second floor, the fall to the parking-lot level was reportedly four to five stories in height.

In a stroke of luck, the child fell into a pile of mulch. She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. An investigation is underway, as well as the state Department of Children and Families being informed.
