What's the newest information about the prison system in Connecticut?

"Do better" is a statement that applies to all walks of life, and in my mind, in every way we live and approach the life we've been given. Even if your life takes a wrong turn, you can still strive to "Do better," and make a change for good. Hopefully, this press release information from ct.gov about the prison system in out state shows a move forward in a positive way.

The release says that the Connecticut state prison population is at its lowest level since 1994. Governor Malloy says the current inmate population is around 13,500. The governor says the drop in the prison population is coupled with the lowest crime rate the state has seen if a half century. Governor Malloy had this to say in the press release:

Today marks yet another milestone day in Connecticut’s fight to reduce crime by adopting best practices regarding juveniles and young adults and creating real second chances for motivated individuals in the criminal justice system. Generations of mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters were locked away and introduced to a life of crime instead of being offered a chance to right their wrongs and become productive members of their communities. The reforms we’ve instituted in Connecticut are changing lives for the better – and we have the results to prove it. I look forward to seeing our state continue to lead the nation in criminal justice reform, for the sake of our families, our communities, and our safety

It would be fantastic if the prison population numbers could continue to drop because individuals did vow to simply, "do better."
