An animal shelter in Hartford needs your help.

NBC Connecticut is reporting that a handful of dogs are looking for homes, but there is a time limit on the adoptions. The Hartford Animal Shelter is at capacity and eight dogs are at risk of being euthanized if not adopted by this Saturday, August 6.

These dogs up for adoption were left at vacant buildings, apartments and parks. Specifically, one pup was left tied to a stop sign pole with a bag of dog food. Breed wise, there are Chihuahuas, Lab mixes and Shepards up for adoption.  Animal Control Officer Sherri Degenova says the Hartford Animal Shelter has a "nine to seven day limit" with dogs, because they rent from a private facility and financial and space reasons.

If you're looking to adopt or want to help these dogs in need feel free to email ctshelterdogs@gmail.com or pizon67@yahoo.comYou may call the Hartford Animal Shelter as well to set up an appointment, their number is 860-757-4395.
