Things you need to know on October 8.

Thanks to MetroNews Source for the following.

  • The grace period for people to renew their driver's licenses and registrations ends next week. Tuesday, Oct. 13 is the last day for people who took advantage of the extension to renew or face penalties. Beware though - DMV offices will be closed from this Friday afternoon through Monday for the Columbus Day holiday. That signals the chance of very long lines for Tuesday.

  • Some good news for your wallet. Federal energy officials expect prices for gas, diesel and home heating oil that dropped during the summer to stay low this winter. Weather forecasters predict temperatures to be 13 percent warmer than last year.

  • Here's a holiday shopping tip. The PlayStation 4 console is about to get cheaper. Sony has announced it will cut the price in an attempt to boost sales. The PS4 will drop $52 down to $350 starting tomorrow.
