• Connecticut has an agreement with the Mohegan and Mashantucket Pequot tribes allowing the state to operate keno gaming. The keno system will be managed by the state Lottery Corporation and will be available at lottery outlets, the casinos and other locations.

• "The Washington Post" reports via UPI.com the Justice Department ordered the release of as many as 6,000 federal inmates between October 30 and November 2 to help reduce overcrowding. Most of the prisoners are drug offenders who will report to half-way houses. It's said to be the largest ever one-time release of federal prisoners.

• John Lennon would have turned 75 this Friday October 9. In his honor, Yoko Ono organized the "Imagine Peace" tribute yesterday hoping to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest group of human bodies. Two thousand people showed up but Yoko would have needed more than three times that number to break the record.

• Would you watch? National Geographic plans to air the first-ever live brain surgery. "Brain Surgery Live" with Mental Floss will feature deep brain stimulation surgery, performed live at the Case Medical Center. It says the patient will be fully awake during the operation on October 25th.
