A Danbury man was arrested in Putnam Valley after he allegedly sped his car toward officers during a pursuit.

On Dec. 4, Troopers from the New York State barracks in Brewster were assisting the Putnam County Sheriff's Department in the pursuit of Adonis D. Castro-Espinal of Danbury, Connecticut.

The officers were traveling eastbound on Route 6 in pursuit of Castro-Espinal's vehicle, they tried to disable the vehicle by deploying a tire deflation device. Castro-Espinal allegedly drive directly at the officers blocking his path. Authorities say he sped up to 100 miles per hour, and officers jumped out of the way before they could be struck by the vehicle.

The pursuit continued into Connecticut where Castro-Espinal was finally stopped by Connecticut State Police on I-84. Castro-Espinal was arrested and held in a Connecticut jail as a fugitive of justice.

On Monday, Dec. 12, he turned himself in to State Police in Brewster. After being arraigned in the Village of Brewster Court, he was remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $75,000 bond.
