Things you need to know on June 25.

Thanks to MetroNews Source for the following.

  • Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal is very vested in gun control. Yesterday Blumenthal took to the Senate floor to again stress the need to reduce gun violence following last week's Charleston church attack. The senator says 11,000 people die from gun violence each year, and the parties need to work together to make the nation safer. He has previously advocated for the restriction of access to guns and a ban on assault weapons.
  • Chock this up to a very good thing for all of us.Connecticut is the first state in the nation to ban variable rate electricity contracts. The measure was signed into law by the Governor yesterday. The bill ends the practice used by many companies that offered customers a low introductory rate that later skyrocketed after the term ended.
  • A second arrest has been made in connection with the escape of two convicted killers in New York. Authorities announced yesterday that they have arrested 57-year-old Clinton Correction Officer Gene Palmer. He has pleaded not guilty and is being held on $25,000 bail.
  • A new study says more sex does not equal more happiness! Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University studied the sex lives of 64 married, heterosexual couples. Half the couples were told to go about their lives as usual, and the other half were told to double the frequency of their sexual relations. Results?  Researchers say there was a 40 percent increase in sex among the second group, but it didn't make them happier. In fact, the study says their well-being declined, especially in measures of energy and enthusiasm. Care to challenge the study?
