Connecticut Tax Free shopping week started Sunday Aug. 16 and there are changes you need to know about.

Connecticut is one of 16 states that offer tax-free back to school shopping. BUT, this year the rules for Connecticut’s tax-free week are different than what you may be used to.

NBC Connecticut reports that qualifying items include clothing and footwear that costs $100 or less. That's different from previous years when $300 or less was the cut-off for the tax-free exemption. Another big change is for items on sale. The reduced sales price is used to determine whether an item is taxable.

Of course the deals are sweet for everyone. Even if you aren't "back to school" shopping you still make out like a bandit this week. Add to it the fact that many retailers have crazy sales going on and it's a win-win. Tax free runs now through midnight on Saturday Aug. 22. Time to shop, shop til you drop!
