This news is just another example of the dumbing down of not only our youth, but America in general.

A few weeks ago, the Danbury Board of Education voted to end the current schedule of midterm and final exams throughout the school year.

They say a new plan will eventually be in place to help evaluate the long term cumulative knowledge of Danbury's students that doesn't involve these twice a year exams. You would think a new plan would already be set in stone before you dump the old one.

With this change, the school will go back to having full day schedules on those dates where the exams used to be held, which makes sense.

I'm all for ways to help young adults learn more effectively, but this to me seems like yet another reason to take away accountability as a student and an adult in general. With mid terms and finals, you saw who learned what, and who was able to remember what they learned during the year and apply it later on during the exams.

Is this another example of us making sure everybody is on the "same level" ?? Or will this truly help our local high school students in the long run?  Explain to me how this prepares them for college?  I recall having similar exams there.

Besides, I had to go back and review and basically re-learn everything throughout the year just to do well on these exams, these student's should have to do the same!  Come on!
