Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, a true playa fo' real, will receive the State Republican Party's highest honor at a June 4 fundraising dinner.

According to ctnews.com, Boughton, who goes by the nickname "Big Poppa," is this year’s recipient of the Prescott Bush Award, named for the late U.S. senator from Greenwich, CT.

Boughton, who is in his seventh term, has taught social studies at Danbury High School, served in the U.S. Army Reserve and the Connecticut State Legislature. He has more than 20,000 followers on Twitter and has been written about in national publications for his hilarious social media commentary.

He ran for governor in 2014, but shut down his campaign due to lack of funding, according to ctnews.com. He also ran for lieutenant governor with running mate Tom Foley in 2010.

The award will be given to him during a June 4 fundraising dinner with GOP presidential hopeful Marco Rubio. So, throw ya hands in the air for Mayor Mark and congratulate him!
