The Danbury Police Department is warning residents of inevitable traffic delays on a major local roadway today following a fatal accident.

According to a social media post from the DPD, both police officers and Danbury firefighters responded to reports of downed wires on Padanaram Rd. just before 9:00 AM today (July 24).

When the first responders arrived, they found that a vehicle that was underneath the downed wires had caught fire. The News Times reports that the wires were knocked loose by a tree that had fallen on top of a truck, killing the driver, who has not yet been identified.

The situation is currently under investigation and in the meantime, a large section of Padanaram Rd. in Danbury between Jeanette Street and Pembrooke Road will remain closed.
