Two alleged, would-be robbers have been arrested in Danbury after the victim escaped.

According to a press release from the Danbury Police Department, officers responded to the report of a robbery in progress right near the Cowboy Bar on Wildman St. at around 11:45 PM on Tuesday (September 19).

Police say that the victim told them that while he was walking in the vicinity of the bar, a car pulled up alongside him and the passengers asked if he was from the area. The victim says that when he told them that he wasn't, they pulled out a handgun and demanded that he give them money. At that point, the victim says he ran around the corner into the Cowboy Bar and called the police.

Based on the description of the alleged robbers, officers located 33-year-old Jason Bonadio and 46-year-old Julio Irizarry at their home on Terrace Place in Danbury.

Both Bonadio and Irizarry were arrested and charged with criminal attempt to commit robbery. They are each being held on $25,000 bonds.
