Memorial Day Parades Cancelled in Danbury and Ridgefield
Tropical Storm Bonnie put a damper on Memorial Day observances in both Danbury and Ridgefield today.
Both Towns canceled their Memorial Day Parades earlier today due to weather concerns brought on by Tropical Storm Bonnie.
According to newstimes.com, Ridgefield canceled their Parade Sunday night due to concerns over thunderstorms and the children who might be marching in the parade.
Danbury's Parade was canceled earlier this morning with a single tweet from Mayor Mark Boughton that read "Cancelled".
Though the weather dried out a bit during the morning, parade officials are forced to make the call early as hundreds of those involved with and marching in the parade, which was scheduled to step off at 9:30 AM, have to start assembling as early as 7 AM.
