Mooney, 24, faces a felony charge of second-degree sexual assault and a misdemeanor charge of providing alcohol to a minor. She appeared briefly in court on Monday with her attorney and supporters, but did not enter a plea.

She had been on administrative leave since Feb. 10, when a student in her physics class told school officials that Mooney had sex with him twice, once in her car and once by a lake.

Mooney faces 10 years in prison and a requirement to register as a sexual offender. She is due to be arraigned on May 27 in Danbury Superior Court.
