Connecticut has a decent number of wineries. In fact, you can follow the Connecticut Wine Trail to a try some of the local wines in the state.

Shelter Rock Winery was started by Giovanni Petretta in the basement of his home in Brookfield, according to their website. In 2012 he opened the winery in Danbury to share winemaking with the public.

The winery offers tours, wine classes, tasting dinners, and you can even have private parties there. You can also join the Winemaking club. I took a look at the membership form and you get to pick your own grapes. That's pretty cool! There is a list with the different grapes and what kind of wine are made with them.

Their 4th Anniversary Harvest Party happens on Saturday September, 17 from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. They'll have food and a DJ for everyone who attends the party. The cost is $35 for members and $50 for non-members.

You can find Shelter Rock Winery at 5 Shelter Rock Road.
