A Danbury woman has been arrested and charged with two counts of animal cruelty.

A press release from the Danbury Police Department says that several complaints were received about sick animals that were allegedly being held in an animal rescue facility in Danbury. The State of Connecticut Animal Control, with the cooperation of Danbury Police, launched an investigation against the animal rescue facility, Tails of Courage, at 39 Smith Street in Danbury, CT.

Investigators say they found two separate incidents of animal cruelty. One from December 2017, and the other in January 2018. Arrest warrants were issued against Krystal Lopez of Danbury, an employee of Tails of Courage. Lopez was notified of the warrants for her arrest and she turned herself in to Danbury Police Monday afternoon (April 23).

Lopez was arrested and charged with two counts of animal cruelty. After she was processed at Danbury Police Station, she was later released and is due to appear in Danbury court Wedneday (April 25) to face those those charges.
