Memorial Day weekend means the start of the beach season. Thinking of heading to the coast? Think again.

EducateInspireChange.org has reported that a creepy jellyfish freak has been spotted along the coast in South Carolina. It looks like blue or purple bubbles floating on top of the water and has long purple tentacles. Say hello to the Portuguese Man-of-War. He might look really cool but this little jerk packs a powerful sting.

Those tentacles that I was talking about are filled with a nasty and painful venom. If one of those tentacles comes loose, it can still sting you. If that wasn't enough, ugh, ready for this? They're not only dangerous in the water, they can still sting days after they are dead washed up on a beach, sippin' something strong. They're more obnoxious than Honey Badgers.

You've probably heard that if you get stung by a jellyfish you should get someone to pee on the sting. Gross and not true. Medical attention is the first thing that should be on your mind and a cold compress might relieve some of the red welts and swelling that can occur. What else can happen? Cardiac distress, fever, shock, trouble breathing, paralysis, death in extreme cases, a total aversion to peanut butter, jam and guys named Brad. OK, I made that last part up. Just tryin' to lighten things up a bit.

Here's what to do if you see one: get away from it!
