Here's a Throwback Thursday for you. Do you remember this event from 19 years ago today? I can't believe it's been 19 years, I can still remember when this happened.

I was 16 years old and I was watching the Olympics and the Magnificent 7 USA women's gymnastics team. The team members were: Shannon Miller, Dominique Dawes, Dominique Moceanu, Amy Chow, Amanda Borden, Jaycie Phelps, and Kerri Strug.

I was always impressed with the gymnastics routines, but this year one of them stuck out more. Do you remember Strug and her amazing landing during the last vault? Here is a video so you can see why she impressed so many people. The first two videos aren't of the best quality. We didn't have all this fancy technology in 1996.

She stuck the landing on one leg! That is something you don't forget seeing. Well that and her coach carrying her up the podium to get her gold medal. Such a cool piece of Olympic history and I'm so glad I was old enough to remember it!

Here is a video (the quality is better with this one) with members from the Magnificent 7 and their coach.

Strug worked as a teacher for a little while, after graduating Stanford University. She got married in 2010 and had a son in 2012, but she will always be remembered for her beyond impressive landing in the 1996 Olympics.
