When you hear someone talk about a Pit Bull, I'm sure there are a few things that come right to mind — aggressive, vicious, attack dog, or just plane dangerous. Well, today, that's all about to change. Today, we're giving you a chance to meet Elvira:

No, not THAT ELVIRA. We're talking about Elvira the Dog. Elvira is a 2-year-old Pit Bull mix, who's probably the nicest dog you'll ever meet.

Now as we've already stated, Pit Bulls have gotten a bad reputation over the last 20 years, so much so, that the breed has even been banned in some states.

Now to set the record straight, Pit Bulls aren't bad dogs, they have just been labeled that way due to some careless breading and aggressive training techniques by humans. Believe it or not, at one time, one of the Pit Bulls breading points was to be a "nanny dog", a dog people would use to watch their younger children.

Melody from the Animal Welfare Society in New Milford has been working with dogs for over 10 years, and she says that some of the sweetest dogs she's ever met have been Pit Bulls.

That brings us to Elvira. She's just so friendly, loving and mellow, you would never even think of her as having any of the bad traits that we hear about with Pit Bulls all the time.

She gets along well with other dogs and people, and she's just looking for a little love and a new forever home. Take a look at Elvira:
