Just a reminder that a week from this Sunday is Mother's Day which falls on May 10 this year. If you're looking to treat Mom to an extra special "Mother's Day" brunch, I've got some excellent suggestions. If you're looking to class it up for Mom's Sunday Brunch, Bernard's & Sara's Wine Bar in Ridgefield is a definite lock. Bernard's is always a top rated restaurant in Connecticut Magazine's "Best Of" editions.  Make sure to call for a reservation at (203) 438-8282.

Let's take a ride up Rt.202 from New Milford to Litchfield to one of my favorite dinner spots, "The West Street Grill." The Mother's Day menu combines brunch and lunch options starting with a basket of homemade bread, muffins, and scones. Make your reservation at (860) 567-3885.

Set your GPS for 694 Main Street South in Woodbury for one of my all time "special occassion" restaurants, Carole Peck's, "Good News Cafe!" Sunday dining is more lunch than brunch and everything is scrumptious. One of my favorites is "Lots of Lobster," which is baked homemade mac n' cheese with lots of fresh lobster meat and baked with white truffle oil. You're going to need reservations for sure. Call (203) 266-4663.

If Mom loves to start off her special day with a special cocktail, head on up to Glastonbury and treat Mom to brunch at Max Fish. The Bloody Mary bar sets the tone for the day and the raw bar is second to none. Make sure to try the Crab Cake Benedict and/or Shrimp and Grits.
Let's head south back into Fairfield County to the highly recommended, The Schoolhouse at Cannondale. Recommendations include the quiche with bacon, chives, and goat cheese with rosti potato. This is a small unique restaurant and fans come back over and over again. Reservations are a must at (203) 966-5200.
