The wait is finally over for Star Wars fans. The next installment of the franchise opened Thursday night in Danbury, and I was there to take it all in. So what can you expect? Don't worry! This is a spoiler-free zone.

First off, if you're planning to see the latest Star Wars movie, Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, you shouldn't have any problems getting tickets. I saw it at AMC Loews in Danbury, and 15 of the 16 screens there were playing it.

The crowds were large, the shows sold out, but that was for opening night. There were no lines to wait on since everyone got tickets in advance, and there were Star Wars fans of all ages. Some even did a little cosplay, dressing as their favorite characters.

Now, let me say that if you're a die-hard Star Wars fan, you won't be disappointed with the latest movie. There are enough special effects and light saber battles to satisfy even the full-blown Star Wars fanatic.

Two of the main characters from the original Star Wars movies are back and in full effect. Mark Hamil returns as Luke Skywalker, and Princess Leia, played by the late Carrie Fisher, is also back. There were two things everyone was wondering going into this movie — how the filmmakers would deal with Carrie Fishers death, and what was the relationship between Luke and Rey. Well, since this is a "no spoiler zone", I won't say. You'll have to see the movie to find out.

Running more than two and a half hours, the eighth Star Wars movie is the longest in the franchise, but real Star Wars fans could sit through an eight hour movie and not complain.

So has the force been redefined? Check out our full review. And since I'm such a Star Wars novice, we get some help from my son, Billy, the real Star Wars geek in the family:
