I remember visiting the famous Fifth Avenue location of FAO Schwarz many times as a young child to see the popular giant clock.

Well it looks like the toy retailer is getting set to close it's flagship store in Manhattan after holding that location for many many years.

According to NBC News, the oldest toy store in the United States is getting set to close the NYC location due to high rent prices. The three-story, 45,000 square foot store has been in many movies like "Big" and "Mighty Aphrodite" and was modeled after for "Home Alone 2".

FAO will officially close it's doors later on July 15, blaming rising costs of running the retail store in his area of Fifth Avenue in NYC.  The store was bought by Toys R Us in 2009, and it looks like they are looking for a new Manhattan location for FAO Schwarz.

I hope they do their best in keeping the store looking as legendary as it always has once they find a new location.  They already moved the giant clock a few years ago from the entrance, which to me is a child hood memory!
