Today (August 24) is National Waffle Day, so I'm sure you want to celebrate. I've found five places that serve some of the best waffles this side of the Mississippi.

Did you know the Waffle was born in New York State - Kind of?

According to the National Day Calendar, the first U.S. patent for a waffle iron was issued in Troy, NY to Cornelius Swarthout on August 24, 1869. To celebrate this anniversary, National Waffle Day is observed each year on August 24.

A new survey of over 2000 people conducted by Learndipity Data Insights and the folks at Finlandia revealed that 76% of Americans love waffles, and that women (80%) prefer waffles more then men (69%).

So, where can you get some of the best waffles in the area?! I've put together a list of five of the best places. If you don't agree, or think somewhere should be added, you can always leave a comment below.
