Foster Family Needed For Cat With Cancer

This is a blog for a very, very special person. It is a real "pay it forward". It's no secret that I'm an animal lover. It truly breaks my heart that I can't save them all. If you're like me, you get that totally. Well, here's something that one incredible person can do for a kitty who needs a forever foster family as she lives out what may be the last year or so of her life.

As I was scrolling through my Facebook feed the other day, I saw a video of a beautiful cat. Being the total cat lover that I am, I stopped scrolling and clicked. And there was Heidi! A beautiful Calico Tabby who lives at the SPCA of Westchester in Briarcliff Manor, NY. Heidi is about 9 years old and she has cancer. She just had surgery to remove a tumor from her leg and although she is feeling fine now, her prognosis is not great. In fact, they believe that the cancer may recur within a year or so. The SPCA is looking for a foster family to give her the love she deserves as she lives out what may be her last year.

I live in a condo with my husband, son and three cats. But Heidi really tugged at my heartstrings. So, I picked up the phone and called Sofia Rocha, the Operations Coordinator of the SPCA in Briarcliff Manor, NY. Sofia told me that they were looking for a foster family to provide a home for this wonderful kitty. The foster family would also monitor Heidi's leg for any recurrence of cancer and bring her to the SPCA of Westchester’s Simpson Clinic for periodic checkups. Her expenses will be covered by the Simpson Clinic, including food, medication, testing, rechecks, and any surgeries she may need. Heidi needs someone to love her for whatever time she may have left.
