If you're a hockey fan and want to support a great cause, check out the fourth annual Guns and Hoses Winter Classic in Brewster on March 18th.

Hudson Valley Guns and Hoses is a nonprofit  component of the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley. The organization is made up of Law Enforcement officers, Firefighters and others from the Hudson Valley community who, according to their mission statement, join together to support and give "financial assistance to firefighters and law enforcement who are injured, sick or killed while in service."

This year's Guns and Hoses Winter Classic will be held at the Brewster Ice Arena, and the game will get started at 3 pm after an opening ceremony. This year, there will also be the introduction of an additional scholarship in the name of fallen Deputy Sheriff Kris Cuddeback who passed away in 2015. This scholarship will be combined with an already developed scholarship in the name of Captain Jack Rose.

Guns and Hoses is a free event opened to the public and there will be fun activities for all during intermission. You can take your chances with chuck a puck, taking the impossible shot and playing human Foosball. After the game everyone is encouraged to participate in an open skate with their local heroes.

Along with helping those in law enforcemnt and local firefighters, the Hudson Valley Guns and Hoses organization supports several Mid-Hudson Valley children's charities.
