The classic Boy Meets World may have lasted a full seven seasons in its ‘90s-2000 heyday, but sitcom lifespans are very different on the 2010-era Disney Channel. After some three full seasons, Girl Meets World might have officially come to an end, at least according to star Rider Strong.

Strong apparently stated on his Literary Disco podcast (via TVLine) that the third season finale in January would mark an end for the series, even as the Disney Channel has yet to formally confirm as much. Said the erstwhile Shawn Hunter:

We finished the third season of Girl Meets World — my brother and I were directing a lot of episodes and I acted in a couple — and the show ended.

Some viewers had already expected as much, given the January 20 Season 3 finale bears a title “Girl Meets Goodbye,” and features a who’s-who of franchise alum:

Strong (Shawn), William Daniels (Mr. Feeny), Will Friedle (Eric), Anthony Tyler Quinn (Mr. Turner), William Russ (Alan), Betsy Randle (Amy), Lee Norris (Minkus), Danny McNulty (Harley), Lily Nicksay (Morgan No. 1) and Lindsay Ridgeway (Morgan No. 2).

Girl Meets World of course already stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel, in addition to young leads Riley (Rowan Blanchard), Maya (Sabrina Carpenter), Lucas (Peyton Meyer), and Farkle (Corey Fogelamnis).

We’ll see if The Disney Channel backs up Rider Strong’s word, but is the Boy Meets World and Girl Meets World franchise finally over for good?
