Its National Trails Day this weekend! Which basically means you should go walk around some  beautiful nature scenery and hug a few trees. On a side note- hugging trees relieves anxiety, and YES, I have tried it- I attended summer camp for over 10 years in my youth. ANYWAY, the American Hiking Society has trails day the first Saturday in June, making this Saturday, June 7th, National Trails Day.

Since we are so lucky to live in SUCH a beautiful area, this is a great idea for some Saturday and Sunday activities. You can bring the whole family or just go alone. Pack a sandwich, maybe bring a blanket to lie on once you get to the top of the mountain, and just take in the soothing music of our beautiful natural landscape. I know I may sound like some sort of hippie-dippie right now, but nature really is proven to help calm human beings down. I know there's some scientific study that I could link to right now, but just take my word for it- you will feel absolutely relaxed after an hour of walking through a tree-lined forest. If you're not the walking type, then you could mountain bike, maybe ride in a canoe? Pretty much anything, just make it fun and do it in one of our great parks that we're so lucky to have.

There a bunch of trails and events in Connecticut and New York happening this weekend. Check it out:
