Make a reservation for brunch or run the risk of having yourself be the reason Mother's Day is ruined. Take it from me, someone who KNOWS how to ruin a good holiday.

The brunch has it all — Mom gets to take a seat and not worry about a thing, you check all sorts of boxes. People are fed — check. Everyone's together — check. Mom gets to dress up and see her crew dressed — check. And last but not least, mom gets to have a mimosa.

Men often fail at gift giving. Jewelry can be too expensive or too cheap, buying clothing for ladies is a minefield, and planning adventures can turn bad thanks to weather. The brunch avoids weather problems, bad jewelry, and a shirt that is eight sizes too big. Just bring your poorly chosen gift to brunch with you. She will be so happy with the meal and the gathering, she will forget you bought her a NY Jets jersey.

Now, I just need to take my own advice. I need to make a reservation, pick the right place, be the designated driver, not rush my wife when she is getting ready, get the kids ready, match my socks, and most importantly, not say anything stupid ALL DAY LONG. Good luck to me, and good luck to my brothers out there.

Happy Mother's Day, everyone. Moms are the best people on Earth.
