The New York City St Patrick's Day Parade rolled on today without the annual sponsorship from Guinness.

Lots of controversy arose over the last few weeks, before this year's Irish holiday, when lots of sponsors decided to opt out, after parade organizers banned LGBT participants from openly marching with pro-gay signs.

Guinness came out with a statement saying:

Guinness has a strong history of supporting diversity and being an advocate for equality for all. We were hopeful that the policy of exclusion would be reversed for this year’s parade. As this has not come to pass, Guinness has withdrawn its participation. We will continue to work with community leaders to ensure that future parades have an inclusionary policy.

Boston Beer Company aka Sam Adams also pulled from the Boston parade for the same thing.

So what do you think?  Do you agree with the beer companies pulling because they feel equality is important?  Should this even be an issue?

I agree with Guinness where everybody should be able to celebrate and participate in the St Patrick's Day Parade and celebrations......But, should it be a place where we display our political agendas?

What do you think?
